<span style="color:red">is</span> an media player & entertainment hub featuring a 10-foot user interface for use with televisions and remote controls.

It allows users to play and view most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local and network storage media and the internet.

Macs can use the Apple TV remote, among others, for control of Kodi.

If you want to transcode your HD Videos on the fly for displaying them on your iPhone in the correct resolution you have to switch to Plex Media Server instead of Kodi.

Kodi is server+player in one -
Plex is split up into Plex Media Server + Plex Home Theater
